iCSE4school

The project is implemented in an international inter-sectoral collaboration involving institutions of higher education, secondary schools and non-governmental organization. Its main objective is to develop, in the transnational consortium, a methodology for the integration of computer science with teaching mathematics and physics in secondary schools on the basis of a pilot project activities in 10 selected schools from different Polish cities to 08.2017. The objective is achieved through the introduction of the teaching process and innovative methods of teaching mathematics, physics and computer science using the Python programming environment / SAGE.

In the project the transnational exchange of good practices related to education takes place. The methods of peer learning and learning by doing is used during the implementation of the undertaking.

A key role will is played by co-ordination of activities in computer science program in physics and mathematics to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of computational perspectives (eg. methods of visualization as planning f (x), numerical methods, computer algebra, data processing and data acquisition from microelectronics (Arduino equipped with sensors and digital cameras). Students in this course acquire programming skills and experience in the use of advanced scientific software, which can then be used to analyze problems.  Unlike to many other solutions linked to the computerization of education, the project will be used to experiment with interactive language (Python and Sage platform).

The project uses the good practice of iCSE project (iCSE.us.edu.pl. innovative project implemented by three years at the University of Silesia in co-operation with Oslo University). The main result of the project is developed methodology based on the experiences of 20 different lessons tested in 10 schools located in different cities in Poland.

Responsibilities in the framework of the project:

- Academic partners: is responsible for the high quality of its operations, supervision of issues selection, monitoring and evaluation of their implementation

- School partners is engaged for the production of training materials and preliminary research and testing on one stage. Along with the project leader, partner schools selects eight other schools in which tests is made moreover and train their teachers. School partners is also responsible for preparing the school for testing,  under the supervision and with the support of academic partners they prepare training lessons  for schools.

- The Foundation is responsible among others for operational activities related to the management, promotion and dissemination of results

All materials is tested in schools, and on the basis of the experience is created a final report - methodology, which is widely distributed. All  the materials is published initially in the CC BY SA or GNU GPL.
