The intellectual property of the University of Silesia includes inventions, solutions (methods) and substances. So far, the university has applied for over 280 patents on its industrial property and for the past few years it has submitted dozens of patents every year, which gives it a high position in the ranking of non-technological universities in Poland.
The vast majority of the patents prove useful to industry and are thus transferred in the form of licences, sales or contributions in companies. Moreover, the university fosters the initiatives such as spin offs/outs which facilitate the transfer.
