On Friday, 17 May 2019, the University of Silesia in Katowice will host representatives of the Brazilian region Minas Gerais. The delegation stays in Poland at the invitation of the Marshal's Office of the Silesian Voivodeship as part of the "International Urban Cooperation: Sustainable and Innovative Cities and Regions - Regional Action Latin America and the Caribbean" Program (IUC-LAC). The program and the visit connected with it concern interregional cooperation, which is to contribute to increasing innovation, competitiveness and creating new opportunities for the economic development of the regions. The stay of the delegation will be an opportunity, among others to discuss future joint project initiatives and investments, establish contacts with potential partners, as well as cooperation between scientific units and entrepreneurs from both regions.
The meeting with representatives of the University of Silesia, as well as with representatives of the Marshal's Office, will be held at the Scientific Information Centre and the Academic Library. The delegation, which is headed by Juliano Pinto - Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development of the region of Minas Gerais, will be welcomed by the director of the Centre, prof. dr hab. Dariusz Pawelec. During the meeting, the University's extensive activity and potential will be presented, including the activities of the special-purpose company, SPIN-US.
