Between 6th and 9th November 2018 the University of Silesia in Katowice is visited by representatives of the Kazakh State Women’s Teacher Training University in Almaty. The cooperation between the universities was initiated in 2015 and has, so far, covered short-term student and staff exchange. The aim of the visit was to sign a double degree agreement in the field of English philology and discuss practical aspects of the double degree programme.
The Kazakh university is represented by: Rector – prof. Gaukhar Aldambergenova, Director of Department for Student Affairs – prof. Sultanova Zhanagul and Head of International Cooperation Department – prof. Raya Amirzhanova. The visit is hosted by the Rector – prof. dr hab. Andrzej Kowalczyk, Vice-Rector for Domestic and International Cooperation – dr hab. prof. UŚ Tomasz Pietrzykowski, Dean of the Faculty of Philology – prof. zw. dr hab. Krzysztof Jarosz, Director of the Institute of English – dr hab. Adam Wojtaszek, Head of the Department of International Relations – Agata Wójcik and Head of the International Students Admissions Office – Joanna Laskowska. The visit is also an opportunity for discussing further cooperation and familiarising our guests with the University of Silesia in Katowice, including the Faculty of Philology in Sosnowiec and the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library.
