Study cycles in Poland
First-cycle studies (undergraduate) – Bachelor’s or Engineer’s degree programmes which provide the graduates with knowledge and skills in a chosen field which needed for work in a given sector.
Second-cycle studies (graduate) – Master’s degree (or equivalent degree) programmes which provide the graduates with specialist knowledge in a chosen field and enable them to seek specialist jobs in the sector of their choice.
Uniform Master’s degree studies – Master’s degree programmes available for candidates who hold a secondary school leaving certificate, providing the graduates with specialist knowledge in a chosen field and enabling them to seek specialist jobs in the sector of their choice. Graduates are awarded the master’s or equivalent degree and may seek admission to doctoral programmes.
Third-cycle studies – doctoral degree programmes available for candidates who have been awarded Master’s or equivalent degree. These programmes provide the graduates with advanced knowledge in a given field or academic discipline and enable them to take up independent research or pursue academic careers.
Postgraduate courses – yet another educational option apart from higher education studies or doctoral studies. Postgraduate courses are available for graduates holding a higher education diploma.
