Become a volunteer at 24th Conference of the Parties

Are you interested in climate and environment protection? Do you want to be a part of the international community which works for our future? Join the team of volunteers of the world forum on climate change which will take placein Katowice, a dynamic capital of a two million people metropolis.

COP24 will take place in Katowice from 3rd to 14th December 2018. 30000 participants from almost 200 countries will arrive to decide about the most important directions of climate protection. COP24 will be attended by the representatives of governments, diplomacy, NGOs and researchers, business and other groups interested in solutions to climate changes. „Preparation of such a huge event is a logistics challenge which requires contribution of many people from the country but also volunteers. Thanks to them, visitors of COP will move around the city easily and enjoy attractions prepared for them,” said Agnieszka Lis, the Proxy of Katowice City Mayor for NGOs.

Tasks for volunteers

Volunteers will be engaged in various jobs; they will work in information centers in important for COP places such as stations, airports, hotels or places in close vicinity to the conference venue. Volunteers will also support exhibitions about NGOs and activists. They will work in Katowice and Cracow.

Requirements

Applicant has to be of legal age (you have to be 18 years old, and it is an obligatory condition), should speak fluent English, are be available between 26th November and 20th December (shifts depend on declared availability). Also welcome are people who have experience in volunteering, speak other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Russian, German and others) and can work in a team. Extra bonuses are knowledge of ecology, environment protection, international relations or international economic cooperation. The COP24 volunteers should become a friendly team which will make visitors feel most welcome and „at home”.

What is offered?

Volunteers will receive special „volunteer packs” which will consist of a uniform, badge, souvenirs and a certificate. Hot meal and drinks, insurance and free travel pass will be provided. Volunteer may also receivdocuments of participation for student apprenticeship for those interested. Volunteering at COP24 provides a chance to participate in the international event, get experience and gain new skills as well as a chance to meet new people. 

How to volunteer?

„Those interested in volunteering at COP24 should fill in the application form http://katowice.eu/Strony/Wolontariat-COP24-EN.aspx and then take part in an interview. The date and place will be determined individually. The final decision about recruitment will be made on 15 October 2018. Volunteers who will qualify will take part in the obligatory training scheduled for November in Katowice,” said Milena Skupień-Lisgarten who is in charge of recruitment and supervision of volunteers. „If you have additional questions, please get in touch via mail: cop24.wolontariat@katowice.eu
